Church Development

Church Development’s mandate is to assist our conference in establishing new congregations and assisting in the redevelopment of existing congregations. We seek to carry out the Disciplinary responsibilities listed in ¶206, ¶270, ¶631, and ¶632.5.

In addition, Church Development works to accomplish the 2010 Plan’s goals: (1) to have weekly attendance average 80,000 for our conference’s churches by 2010; (2) to incorporate 10,000 people from new population groups into established, satellite, and new congregations by 2010; and (3) to have a membership across the conference which reflects the diversity and is consistent with the state’s population.

Church Development is organized with ministry team and two resource teams--Hispanic/Latino Ministry and Strengthening the Black Church. It also functions as the Ethnic Local Church Ministries team.
